WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU'RE IN TIER II

Do you stay in, or do you venture out?

Well, it’s official.

Beginning Saturday, the 17th of October, we will be in a restrictive Tier II lockdown. Although hardly a surprise, it does beg the question…

What to do when you’re in Tier II.

And that’s what this blog is all about.

The main thing about Tier II is that…

...people can’t socialise with anybody from outside of their household or ‘social bubble’ in an indoors setting.

And, the rule of six applies...which means gatherings of more than six people are not allowed.

As you can guess, this doesn’t just throw cold water on going out and having a good time; this pretty much unleashes a fire hydrant on it.

Does that mean a night out on the town is out of the question?

Thankfully, no.

Only the family this time?

You can still go out; only you’ll have to restrict your group to people you currently live with...or are part of your ‘support bubble’.

And what, pray, is a ‘support bubble’?

Ordinarily, one household can’t come into contact with another household.

However, if one of those households is a single-adult household, THEN they MAY have close contact with another household.

And that is what Her Majesty’s Government refers to as a support bubble.

They might also have called it a ‘My kids are driving me nuts and I need help’ bubble, but then it wouldn’t sound like civil servants came up with it, so…

Anyway, getting back to the point...

Yes, you definitely CAN go out and take part in a lot of the awesome activities in London; but you need to exercise caution.

Would it be better to just sit at home?

These are extraordinary times. If you feel unsafe going out, you should stay home.

However, sitting at home is difficult. It places considerable stress on your mental health, especially at this time of lockdown fatigue.

Being stuck at home does have a cost.

Or, to put it in another way

It makes you want a glass of wine quite frankly, and it is isolating.

An occasional venture outdoors, with precautions, would seem to be a good way of keeping it together.

What are your options for venturing out?

As it happens, many of the outdoor options allowed in Tier I ARE allowed to operate, under restrictions.

Which means the haunts you’re looking for - bars, cinemas, restaurants, gyms, escape rooms - might remain open.

Making your escape room experience COVID-secure

A COVID-secure experience awaits you at Fox in a Box!

Here at Fox in a Box, we’re invested deeply in keeping you COVID-secure, as you have an awesome experience breaking out of a prison, escaping serial killers or going on a top secret mission.

Rule of six

Our escape rooms are designed to accommodate up to 6 people, which means we have a ‘rule of six’ in place, COVID, or no COVID.

No interaction between different households

All of our bookings are private, which means you will NEVER be grouped together with people outside of your group.

article-image-6

We will NOT force you to gather with other people.

This makes it easy to restrict gatherings to same-households and support bubbles.

Family friendly games

All our games are family friendly.

We recommend a minimum age of 14; but we do not stop younger players from taking part. We will adapt our games for younger players by removing adult references if necessary.

An escape game at Fox in a Box is an awesome time for your entire family, and will be very useful breaking lockdown fatigue.

Other COVID measures

We have put a COVID-19 action plan in place, based on government guidance, to keep our players and our staff safe.

Key steps include:

  • Temperature checks on staff.

  • Making masks and gloves available to players, free of charge.

  • Having all areas cleaned and disinfected frequently.

  • Ensuring players sanitize their hands on entry into the building and having sanitizer dispensers located around the building.

  • Any game items that players have to wear are only used once before being washed and thoroughly disinfected.

So, if you want to have a reasonably COVID-secure experience even as London goes into a Tier II lockdown, you can check out the escape games we have on offer.
